Victor Harbor Private Hospital Board members with the support of Executive staff affirm their desire to maintain and develop the private hospital’s growing reputation as a valuable part of our community and we strive for the highest quality in service and personalised patient care.
The Board is made up of nine (9) Volunteer Community Members and Executive Staff of the Hospital and Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network.
Each Board Member brings to the table a variety of skills and experience that assists and supports the Executive to make sound decisions on behalf of the Private Hospital and its end users.
Operates a beef cattle farming enterprise in the Waitpinga district and offers management consultancy on other properties. Phil has served continuously for 17 years on the VHPH Board and currently in the third year as Chairperson.
Chris has extensive experience in Education and Research, Training and Development. She has an interest in community living and health within our region and is deputy Chairperson and on the hospital’s Clinical Service Committee.
Retired Primary School Teacher with vast experience in governance and education and has lived in the region for several years. Sandy is actively involved in many community groups across Victor Harbor.
Having recently moved to the Fleurieu region permanently, combined with over two decades of experience in leadership positions within the South Australian human service sector; I look forward to making a valuable contribution to the Governance of the Victor Harbor Private Hospital as a community representative.
I am a retired Senior Courts Officer with 45 years’ experience working in all levels and jurisdictions of Courts in South Australia. I have also had seven years’ experience serving full and part time in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps. I was elected to the VHPH Board at the 2018 AGM and appointed a Justice of the Peace on 17 December 1970. I look forward to making a contribution to the governance of the VHPH.
Marty emigrated to Australia from England as a child and grew up in the Glenelg. He enlisted in the Australian regular Army in 1975 and attended the Royal Military College, Duntroon. While in the Army he gained a Arts degree and a Graduate Diploma in Sports Administration. In 2002, Marty resigned from the Army and worked as a public servant with the ACT Government in the Land Planning, Education and Chief Minister areas. Marty rejoined the Army, at their invitation, in 2013 and spent three years in Darwin specialising in training Indigenous soldiers. He left the Army for the second time at the end of 2015 and moved to Victor Harbor where he continues to serve in the Army Reserve specialising in the recruitment and the retention of Indigenous soldiers. Marty is a past president of the Victor Harbor Rotary Club, a board member of the South Coast Veterans Association and Commanding Officer of 42 Army Cadet Battalion. He is married to Susan for 42 years and has three children and four grandchildren all of whom live interstate. He is an avid North Melbourne Footy Club member.
Belinda is a local solicitor with a practice in general corporate and commercial law. Belinda is actively involved in her local community through Port Elliot Surf Lifesaving, Victor Harbor Sea Scouts, the Port Elliot RSL and is an advocate in her community on matters concerning planning, heritage and the environment. Belinda is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and brings her experience in advocacy and passion for local healthcare to our Board. Belinda is married with two children.
Julie Irwin has been a resident of Victor Harbor for 36 years. Mark and Julies daughters grew up and went to school at Port Elliot Primary and VH High School. The entire family have been involved in various sports and Julie has always maintained roles in community groups, currently President of Rotary Victor Harbor. Owning the local Video Store for over 30 years. Julie was then offered a State Managers role with the franchisee organisation and for 8 years. Travelling interstate and locally in a training and compliance role. Julie is currently the Team Assistant at Shed Boss Fleurieu a role which is thriving in. Being part of the Victor Harbor Private Hospital board has helped me understand how important our local health service is and that we need to ensure we keep these services growing and developing for our community.
